Symbiosis is a
private group of academic institutions that was started way back in 1971 and
now has under its banner university, colleges, centres and schools hosting more
than 40,000 Indian and international on-campus students. The school (deemed
university) provides international standard quality education and hence
attracts many students from abroad. However, the students have to undergo
various selection tests to get into this coveted institution. Symbiosis entrance test (SET) is one of them. SET is a national level entrance examination
conducted for entrance to the 12 colleges of SIU (Symbiosis International
University).
SET is actually a
test for admission to undergraduate courses of various streams like Law,
Engineering, Management, Mass Communication, Computer Studies, Liberal Arts,
Economics.
Aspiring students
willing to study undergraduate courses in any of these streams need to appear
for SET. The eligibility criteria is 50% score in aggregate in class 12 or
equivalent. Students belonging to reserved categories will get a 5% relaxation
and thus they will need to score an aggregate of 45% in class 12 or equivalent.
So far as students
from outside India are concerned, those who have completed 12th standard or
equivalent exam from a foreign board will be required to obtain an equivalent
certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
So far as exam
preparation for the SET exam is concerned, the students must be well acquainted
with the syllabus. They need to practice enough of mock tests, solve plenty of
sample papers and try to solve questions with a time limit set.
Regular practise of
such things will enable them to crack the examination quite easily. And with
right and smart efforts along with dedication students can score really well
because the questions are set at easy to moderate parameters. That is to say,
these are not tough questions to answer.
Students can appear
in the SET exam attempting for more than one course. The only criterion is that
they will be needed to apply for each course separately.
After the SET
results are out, successful students will be required to clear group
discussions and personal interview rounds.
Basically, the SET question
papers have four sections.
1.
Analytical and
Logical Reasoning
2.
General English
3.
Quantitative
Aptitude
4.
General Awareness
The exam is conducted online mode only and
there is no negative marking.
Of course, the exam
comes with a fee. For SET Test 2021 it is Rs 1950 for one
course. If a student wants to apply for two courses, the fee is 3900 INR. The
payment mode is offline and online both. Demand Draft is the offline option.
Credit/Debit card, Net banking or UPI are the online payment modes.
