Engineering Entrance Tests: A 3-Minutes Gist

In India still, Engineering is considered by masses as the most desirable career options. Lakhs of candidates apply to hundreds of colleges, universities, each college having its own entrance test, again with various examinations at the state and Central/National level, it is at times very daunting to make out what is what. With the burgeoning population, the entrance exams are getting tougher day by day. However, with so many different colleges to choose from, students have various options as well to choose from like JEE, BITSAT, SRMJEEE, COMEDK, VITEEE, Symbiosis engineering entrance test or SET etcetera.

 

In fact, more than fifty different types of engineering entrance exams are conducted throughout the country mostly at the undergraduate (UG) level. And as we mentioned, some exams are held at the state level, some at National while different institutions/colleges conduct exams at the institutional level. Usually, most of the engineering students apply in more than one examination in order to maximise their admission chances due to high competition rate.

JEE

JEE, the most well-known engineering entrance examination in our country has two parts. JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main is conducted by National Testing Agency or NTA. While JEE Advanced is conducted by the seven IITs under the guidelines of Joint Admission Board of JAB.

BITSAT 

Birla Institute of Technology and Science conducts its own entrance examination for getting admission in programs like Pharma, BE, MSc which are offered by the different BITS colleges at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad

WBJEE

West Bengal conducts its state level of entrance examination for admission to various state colleges in Engineering & Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy courses. The examination is conducted by the Joint Entrance Examinations Board of government of West Bengal.

MHTCET

This is a state-level engineering entrance examination conducted by the government of Maharashtra. The examination is conducted for admissions to first-year Engineering and Technology programmes (BE/BTech) and Pharmacy programmes (BPharma/PharmD) offered by the colleges in the state of Maharashtra.

VITEEE

Yet another quite popular institution-level entrance test conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology or VIT for admission to its own BTech programs.

Symbiosis SET

Symbiosis institution has become quite famous in India now with over four decades of its education journey and it is a deemed university. There are 15 institutes under Symbiosis spread across the cities of Pune, Nagpur, Noida and Hyderabad offering 21 different undergraduate programmes.

Symbiosis conducts different entrance tests like Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET)-A, Symbiosis Entrance Test - B (SET B), Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT), SIT Engineering Entrance Exam (SIT EEE) and Non SET exams as well. Symbiosis application form for SET or Symbiosis Entrance Test for 2021 is released already and the examination will be held in May 2021
